The pilgrims' Office in St Jean is located at 39 rue de la Citadelle and is open  from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm ; Friday and Sunday from 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm and can provide you with credentials(for a cost), information (particularly about conditions on the mountain and whether it is safe to walk that way and a map of both routes) and you can buy a shell. they can also book you into an albergue for the night.
