There are quite a few guidebooks to the various Caminos available for free on-line, these are the ones that I have found - if you know of any more then feel free to add them:
Camino Frances:
Camino Primitivo:
- A guide is available at http://www.pilgrimagetraveler.com/support-files/combined-guide-to-the-camino-primitivo-most-recent-8.1.15.pdf which includes maps, accommodation and basic directions (this includes the Way to Finisterre)
Camino
Finisterre:
- The Confraternity of Saint James produce ‘Finisterre’ by Alison Raju which can be downloaded from http://www.xacobeo.fr/ZE3.03.Fisterra_CSJ_en.pdf (please consider giving a donation) – this is their 2009 version, an update is at http://www.csj.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/PGS3Finisterre.pdf
- http://www.pilgrimagetraveler.com/support-files/combined-guide-to-the-camino-primitivo-most-recent-8.1.15.pdf has a free guide to Camino Primitivo which includes the Camino to Finisterre and Muxia (in pdf form to print or put on your kindle)
- http://www.scribd.com/doc/32836717/Camino-Fisterra-Guide-UPDATED-3rd-July-2010 has another free guide which it says can be downloaded if you sign up – I have not tried this myself though so do not know if it works but most information appears to be available if you scroll down the page and includes maps, a route description and accommodation information (last updated in 2010 from what I can tell)
Camino Portuguese:
- The Confraternity of Saint James publishes two guides: ‘The Camino Portugués, Lisbon to Porto’ and ‘The Camino Portugués, Porto to Santiago’ both published in 2014 both of which are available to download for a donation at http://www.csj.org.uk/planning-your-pilgrimage/csj-guides-and-updates/
Camino Ingles:
- The CSJ has a 2014 guidebook on the Camino Ingles available as a free download (although consider giving them a donation on their website) at http://www.csj.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Camino-Ingles-Master-PDF-Sept-2014.pdf
- A pdf guide is available at https://www.caminodesantiago.me/camino-de-santiago-guides/
Camino Norte:
- Free downloadable guides in English [which I have placed on my kindle, some of these come out quite small (the map looks quite good but is indecipherable!) but they could easily be printed out] are available on http://tourism.euskadi.eus/downloads/tourist-leaflets/ - note that the ‘Guide to the Northern Way of Saint James’ has a drop down menu under ‘download pdf’ with ‘The Northern Ways to Santiago’ which has some background information and daily sections with maps, distances (including profile maps), photographs and information on the day's walk but nothing on accomodation so ensure you also download the ‘accomodation’ part as well (which is from 2012-13) which lists not just albergues, hotels (listed within 2km of the Camino) etc. but also facilities available (bars, shops, medical attention etc.)
Via de la Plata:
- There is also a free guide at http://www.viadelaplataguide.net/
- A simple map of the route with some points of interest is available from http://www.rutadelaplata.com/en/
