It is almost New Year again and here is the card that I have made for my Camino-loving family this year!
For this card you need:
A pencil
A rubber
A plain card or a sheet of card to cut to shape
A black pen
Pencil crayons/felt tipped pens
Start by writing 'Happy New Year' lightly as pencil. This will act as your guide for the decorated letters.
I have used Pilgrims (drawn in stick figure form seeing as I am no artist!) holding hands as the h, a backpack and sticks leaning against a wall for the two a s, Pilgrims standing for the two ps, two connected Crosses of Saint James' as the n, connected arrows for the es, Santiago Cathedral as the w (had anyone else realised how like a w the Cathedral looks like before?!), the Camino shell as the ys and a Pilgrim with a concerningly long stride as the r (I'm also concerned about the size and position of some of those backpacks as well .....)
Go over the lines of your drawings in black pen
Wait a few minutes then gently rub your pencil lines out
Colour your card in - I've mainly used the blue and yellow Camino colours but you could do the bags whatever colour your bag is (which would be a greenish turquoise for me) and my hats I've done black as the hat I wear on Camino's is this colour.
Other ideas could be doing the a as an upside down scallop shell or including other buildings from the Camino as letters (the clock towers seen maybe or wayside Crosses? I'll leave those to more talented artists than me though!)
