My sister Becky went to Chester for a few days and, as you do when you are planning your next Camino, went in all of the outdoor shops and found something awesome .....
A Camino buff! It has the Camino Frances marked on as well as the Nortes, Portuguese and Finisterre and Muxia (no English way but that is rather short). So I know what we'll be wearing on our Camino this year!

If you find the buff for sale elsewhere, especially if you are not in the UK, then please do say where in the comments.
It does make sense that buff would make a Camino buff as they are a Spanish company (you can read about how they came about at http://www.buffwear.co.uk/history), I'm just surprised it took them so long.
For those who don't know what a buff is it is a piece of multifuctional headwear that can be worn as below:

I usually wear mine around my neck as I walk to keep my neck from burning and to soak up the Galician rain! They are also a good makeshift sleep mask and when its been cold an extra layer as a hat (and I know people use them as gloves on cold days when they need a hand on their walking stick).

The buff has 95 percent UV protection and has moisture management, some thermal insulation and permanent odour control.
I did try to weigh the buff but my scales are low on battery but it is light.
Detail of Santiago - the design is the same on the front and the back.
I have managed to find the buffs for sale on the Cotswold Outdoor site at the link below (if it doesn't work then search the site for buffs and then, when I looked, on the top row on the right is an option for something like 'high UV protection' the buff in the picture isn't the Camino one [it was a black and white buff when I looked] but click on it and search the colour options)

Hi Rachael. I've been looking for this Buff but haven't wanted to pay the same amount for shipping from Europe/UK.
ReplyDeleteSince you asked, I did find (and ordered...WHEEE!) one tonight from KitShack in Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O7MXJX2
I bookmarked your blog and look forward to reading it.
:)
I'm glad you were able to find one! I've also seen this buff and other designs sold in several shops along the Frances from Astorga onwards
