In Canterbury I bought these three replica Pilgrim badges:
This is the Canterbury Cross - the design comes from a Saxon brooch from about 850 which was found in 1867 on Canterbury (the original is in the Canterbury Heritage museum). I bought this version from the Canterbury Tales for £4.
This badge is a replica of one dating from 1350-1400 and celebrates the return of Saint Thomas a Becket from six years' exile in France in 1170. He can be seen aboard this square rigged, clinker built cog on the left of the mast with his hand raised in blessing.
This badge shows Becket being killed by the Knights. This badge, and the one above, come from the Cathedral shop and cost £8.
