Just a quick reminder for anyone in or around Canterbury this weekend:
Canterbury Cathedral is hosting a conference on the Pilgrims' Way with a weekend of events linking the Pilgrims' Way Project and The Green Pilgrimage network (a global collaboration between 28 pilgrim cities and other sacred sites who want to be models of green action and care. It was launched in Assisi in 2011).On the 5th people will gather at meeting places a mile or a couple of miles outside the city to walk in with the Archbishop.
The weekend will also see the official launch of the Pilgrims' Way website at www.pilgrimswaycanterbury.co.uk .
On Saturday the 4th at the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge the following events are happening:
11:30-12:30 - Guided walk to Saint Martin's Church and Eastbridge hospital
1-2 - a Pilgrim clinic for those interested in walking the Pilgrims' Way to Canterbury or to Santiago or Rome
2-3 - Pilgrim history talk by John Butler about the mediaeval practice of Pilgrimage to CanterburyAll day there will be family Pilgrimage activities (see how much weight your kid can carry for you on Pilgrimage maybe?)
St Dunstan's Church will be showing 'The Way' from 7
On Sunday the 5th at the Cathedral:
At 2 those who have walked into the city will process into the Cathedral
2-3 and 4-5 there will be hospitality for Pilgrims in the Cathedral Precincts with tea and Pilgrim loaf
There will be a special Pilgrimage Evensong at 3:15
4-5 the Cathedral will be open for Pilgrims to visit.
The website also has details on how to send off for a Pilgrim Passport for the Pilgrims' Way (no such thing existed when I was planning my pilgrimage hence I designed my own which you can find at: http://footprintsonthecamino.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/pilgrims-way-to-canterbury.html). These can be sent off for by sending a standard sized stamped addressed envelope to:

Cathedral House.

Canterbury,
CT1 2EH,
UK
and clearly marked PILGRIM PASSPORT and you should allow 2 weeks for delivery.
This looks rather good!I can't attend this conference (as I'd already booked to go to the Star Trek convention in London) but if anyone does go I'd really like to hear how it goes!
