Camino Frances 2018 day 1 - Triacastela

Today was another day of traveling to get to Triacastela. We set of at 8:25 to get to the bus station. We passed by the supermarket at 8:45 but it didn't open until 9 so we decided that we would buy our tickets for the bus and then leave Dad with the bags at the station and have plenty of time to get the 9:45 bus we had read about on the bus company's website.

Camino Frances 2018 day 7 - Santiago

We got up today at half six and were out of the albergue by half seven so we were walking through the dark using torches to see where we were going for the first 45 minutes or so. The new waymarkers were no longer about leaving only the older ones with their inaccurate measurements but we really did not mind.

Camino Frances 2018 Day 0

Long gone are the mornings when it was necessary to get up at four or five in the morning to be able to get a aeroplane early in the morning, now that Ryanair has it's flights in the afternoon it means a later start (it also means that once in Santiago no further travel to the starting point for the Camino is possible). This meant that we did not set off until 9:15  and were able to take a break at 11:30 for a McDonald's on the way down to the airport.

Camino Frances - starting in Triacastela

For this year's Camino we decided to return to the Camino Frances - the last time that we walked any of this route was back in 2015 when me and Becky started in Astorga and were joined by our parents in Triacastela. This time we don't have as much holiday and so are starting in Triacastela which is 134km from Santiago and is the first town on The Way in Galicia.
